bet365 Joins Alberta’s Sports Betting, iGaming Approval List

bet365 is set to join Alberta’s regulated online gaming market, adding another major international operator to the province’s expanding lineup.

bet365, one of the most established names in global sports betting and online casino gaming, is preparing to go live in Alberta this summer. The British owned company appeared on the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission approval list this week, confirming its place among the operators cleared for the province’s July 13 launch. The market is being overseen by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission, which approved bet365 earlier this week.

Key Points

The operator was added to the AGLC approval list on Monday. bet365 joins a competitive group of sportsbook and online casino brands ahead of the July launch. Alberta will be the company’s second regulated market in Canada.

Although bet365 has not issued a public announcement, its approval by the AGLC confirms that it will be part of Alberta’s regulated market from day one. Listed under its corporate names Hillside International Gaming and International Sports, the company becomes the sixth operator approved to offer both casino and sportsbook products in the province.

North American Growth

Alberta represents another step in bet365’s steady expansion across North America. The company was founded by Denise Coates in 2000 and grew from a small operation in England into one of the most influential betting brands in the world. It entered the regulated Ontario market in 2022 and launched in the United States that same year.

Since then, bet365 has expanded into seventeen American jurisdictions, most recently Michigan, and opened its United States headquarters in Colorado in 2024. While not all regions publish operator specific revenue data, bet365 has delivered strong results in several markets, including a top three position in Ohio during March Madness. Its performance in Ontario is not publicly known due to limited reporting.

Alberta’s Regulatory Shift

With the July 13 launch approaching, Alberta now has thirty one approved operators, including major United States brands such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Rush Street, Hard Rock Bet and Caesars. The AGLC has also approved thirty five gaming providers and eleven suppliers.

The province’s decision in 2025 to move away from the unregulated grey market is expected to generate significant long term revenue. Applications opened earlier this year, and several operators, including theScore Bet, have already begun offering preregistration for Alberta players.

Players in Alberta can expect a wide range of sportsbook features, live betting options and online casino games once the market opens.

With major operators entering the market and strong interest from players, Alberta is positioned to become one of the most active regulated gaming regions in Canada. The next few months will set the tone for how competitive the province becomes.
