DAZN Bet Goes Live in Ontario as Streaming Giant Enters Canada’s iGaming Market

Sports streamer launches sportsbook and online casino with Alberta expansion next

Key Points

  • DAZN Bet launches its regulated sportsbook and online casino in Ontario, marking its first expansion outside Europe.
  • The company aims to combine sports streaming with betting to create a “watch and wager” experience for Canadian players.
  • Ontario serves as the foundation for DAZN’s Canadian growth, with Alberta expansion planned for the near future.

DAZN Bet Makes Its Canadian Debut

International sports streaming powerhouse DAZN has activated its licensed sportsbook and online casino in Ontario, a major step in what the company says will be a growing Canadian footprint. The launch adds DAZN to the province’s crowded field of operators, now totalling 47 licensed brands and 81 gaming sites — a landscape regularly covered in Ontario iGaming news.

Richard Rawlinson, Managing Director of DAZN Bet Canada, said long‑term trust and customer experience will be essential in a market as competitive as Ontario. “Ontario stands out as one of the most mature, competitive and highly regulated online gaming markets in North America,” he told Casino.org. “Ontario players have high expectations and a broad choice of operators, so success depends on delivering a differentiated customer experience.”

The platform, which went live on June 30, includes a locally tailored sportsbook and a casino offering featuring slots, table games and live dealer titles — areas often compared in sportsbook and casino reviews.

Ontario Launch Sets the Stage for Alberta

DAZN confirmed it will expand into Alberta “in the near future,” positioning itself among the first operators expected to enter the province’s regulated market when it opens on July 13 — a development closely tied to AGLC iGaming regulation.

Rawlinson said DAZN’s Canadian strategy combines the credibility of its global sports brand with a product tailored specifically to local players. He added that DAZN’s experience across multiple regulated markets has strengthened its capabilities in compliance, responsible gaming and customer‑centric product development — all shaped by AGCO regulatory requirements.

A Watch‑and‑Wager Strategy

DAZN Bet already operates in Spain, Italy, the UK and Germany, but its Ontario launch is unique because DAZN controls a major sports media ecosystem. With millions of subscribers watching live and on‑demand sports in more than 200 countries, the company believes its “watch and wager” model gives it a competitive edge.

By owning the platform where fans watch games, follow scores, read stats and now place bets, DAZN aims to convert its existing audience into sportsbook customers, a strategy explored further in DAZN Bet Canada coverage.

DAZN CEO Shay Segev has previously described betting as a complementary extension of the company’s broadcasting business. The technology behind DAZN Bet was developed through a partnership with Pragmatic Solutions, announced in 2022.
