Cascades Casino London Nears Grand Opening After Major 27‑Month Transformation

London’s entertainment district is about to get a major boost as Cascades Casino completes its multi‑year transformation.

A New Era for Gaming and Entertainment in London

London’s long‑anticipated Cascades Casino is nearing its official ribbon‑cutting after more than two years of redevelopment at Western Fair District, adding another major venue to Ontario’s growing gaming landscape and continuing the momentum seen across our casino news coverage. The $50 million project has reshaped the former slots facility into a full entertainment destination, marking one of the most significant gaming upgrades the city has seen in recent years.

Completed in phases over 27 months, the renovation added 14,000 square feet to the property. What was once a modest gaming venue has now evolved into a modern casino designed to attract both local visitors and travellers exploring the growing entertainment hub in Old East Village.

Inside the New Cascades Casino

Expanded Gaming Floor

The upgraded gaming floor features 18 live gaming tables and nearly 900 slot machines, offering a mix similar to what players find in many of the top‑rated casinos we review. The redesigned layout improves accessibility and flow, giving players a more comfortable and spacious experience.

New Dining and Social Spaces

The casino now includes two restaurants, multiple bars, and an outdoor patio built for seasonal events and casual dining. These additions aim to make Cascades Casino a full‑day destination rather than a quick gaming stop.

Growing Workforce

With 80 new hires, the casino’s staff now exceeds 300 employees. The expansion reflects the scale of the operation and the expected increase in visitor traffic once the venue officially opens.

Strengthening London’s Entertainment District

Cascades Casino sits within a cluster of entertainment properties in the eastern section of Old East Village. Nearby attractions include The Factory and the Hard Rock Hotel, both of which draw significant foot traffic and contribute to the area’s revitalisation – all operating under the regulatory framework overseen by the AGCO.

General Manager Darcy Romanin says collaboration between these venues is already underway. He confirmed that Cascades Casino intends to work closely with neighbouring businesses to create a unified entertainment experience for visitors.

A Vision for a Connected District

Romanin highlighted the potential for cross‑promotion with the Hard Rock Hotel and other nearby attractions, noting that a more integrated approach could elevate the entire district.

He also acknowledged the value of a walkable link between the properties, calling it a concept that could become a future development priority.

“It would be great if we could do that, to definitely see some sort of a link here in this district, connecting everything that is available here,” Romanin said.

A Boost for the City

Cascades Casino contributes a portion of its gaming revenue directly to the City of London, meaning the expansion is expected to generate increased municipal funding. With a larger facility, more visitors, and expanded offerings, the casino’s economic impact will likely grow in the coming years.

The official ribbon‑cutting ceremony is expected within weeks, but the venue is already largely complete — signalling the start of a new chapter for Western Fair District and London’s entertainment landscape.
