Ontario’s regulated online gambling market continued its strong momentum in June, posting a 30 percent increase in both customer spending and operator revenue compared to last year, according to new figures from IGO Igaming Ontario. This growth continues to be one of the most notable trends covered in News category.Handle climbed from $7.26bn in June 2025 to $9.46bn in June 2026, marking the fifth‑highest monthly total since the province launched its regulated market. Only March 2026’s record $9.59bn sits higher.
Gross gaming revenue followed the same pattern, reaching $400.6m, up 30.6 percent year over year. Although slightly below May’s total, June still ranks among Ontario’s strongest months. Operators have now surpassed $400m in revenue in six of the last eight months.
With Ontario’s 80–20 revenue split, June’s GGR generated $80m in tax revenue, pushing the province’s all‑time regulated iGaming tax intake past $2.5bn since April 2022. Regulatory oversight for this revenue structure is outlined by AGCO.
Active player accounts also rose, hitting 1.3 million, the highest level since January. Average operator revenue per account reached $304.
Online casino gaming remains the backbone of Ontario’s market. A massive 88 percent of all wagers came from iCasino products, totalling $8.30bn, the third‑highest month ever recorded.
Operators generated $316.8m in casino GGR, representing 79 percent of total revenue. While slightly below May’s record, it still marks a 30.4 percent increase compared to June 2025.
The kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup pushed sports betting past the $1bn handle mark for the fourth time in six months.
Sports handle reached $1.03bn, up 34.5 percent year over year, while sports GGR hit $78.6m, up 34.4 percent year over year.

Ontario’s online gambling ecosystem now includes 48 licensed operators running 82 sites, but June’s numbers do not yet reflect two major arrivals.
On June 30, sports streaming giant DAZN launched DAZN Bet, marking its first North American gambling entry. The platform also went live in Alberta on July 13.
DAZN Bet already operates in several European markets, including Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Managing Director Richard Rawlinson said the Canadian launch represents a long‑term commitment and blends DAZN’s global sports brand with a localized product.
On July 22, Hard Rock Bet entered Ontario after months of speculation. The operator offers sports betting in 10 U.S. states, but Ontario is its first Canadian iGaming expansion.
Hard Rock Bet is now one of the few online operators with a physical casino presence in the province, thanks to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa. Regulatory requirements for operators entering Ontario are overseen by AGCO.
Both operators will appear in July’s iGO revenue report, although Ontario does not publish operator‑specific breakdowns.
